The life of a 10-year-old black girl was shattered because of two remorseless and drunken young men. The mostly white town was shocked at the incident. They were horrified because of the inhumane crime. However, it was the father of the girl who decided to take matters into his own hands. He acquired an assault rifle and got the job done.

The nation sits spellbound for 10 days with burning crosses and the crack of sniper fire through the streets of Clanton, Mississippi. Now, a young defense attorney must struggle to save his client’s life, along with his own.

Clay Carter reluctantly takes the case of a young man charged with a random street killing. Initially, he assumes it is just a senseless murder. But as he digs deeper into the investigation, he uncovers a conspiracy theory involving one of the largest pharmaceutical companies around.

If you’re a fan of Grisham, then this story is a must-read. It is a book that makes one think about important issues that need to be addressed by the community as a whole.
