Lucas likes working alone because he has tough cases to deal with in which he does not want his attention to be shifted to his partner. Protecting the life of his partner or keeping him safe makes Lucas divert his attention from the case. However Lieutenant Lily is not someone who needs any support from her partner because she is quite capable of keeping herself safe.

The killer has killed many people who were on high posts and the weapon which was used for the killing was an old American knife. Why the killer uses such a weapon is something that no one has been able to comprehend.

Richard Ferrone has given an equally strong voice to Lily during the narration of the story to show her character and role in the novel.
