Shattered Sword

Shattered Sword tells an interesting untold story. It is a story about the Battle of Midway. The book is researched and written by Jonathan Parshall and Anthony Tully. Jonathan has deeply researched the subject area and converted it beautifully into a book. Anthony is an independent historian and scholar who worked for the Imperial Japanese Navy.

The audio narration of the Shattered Sword is done by Tom Perkins. It was just an OK performance. The only major issue in performance was that nasal Midwestern voice which was quite frustrating to the ears.

A lot of people think that it was the Battle of Midway that turned the tide of the Pacific War. There is no doubt that it was one of the most considerable battles in the history of this world. For the very first time now and after the successful Miracle at Midway book by Gordon W. Prange, the authors’ duo in Shattered Sword offered a completely new interpretation of that great naval battle. Unlike all the previous accounts, this title made extensive use of the primary sources from Japan. On top of that, it also corrected several errors that were found in Midway: The Battle That Doomed Japan by Mitsuo Fuchida.

Shattered Sword is a deeply researched and detailed book. It facilitates listeners with completely new research about the interpretation and the overall study of the battle. If you want to know about the factual information on the Battle of Midway then Shattered of Sword is the book for you. The previous accounts were found to be flawed with some misleading information. This is one reason which made this authentic book so much special to those who want to know about the truth behind the Battle of Midway. It went on to win the John Lyman Book Award and was also the best book in 2005 in the USA Naval History.
