The Lost Symbol is a crime, mystery, and thriller novel written by Dan Brown. It is set in Washington D.C. in the aftermath of The Da Vinci Code. It is the third book in the Robert Langdon series. Paul Michael has done a great job with this narration. He is exceptional as the character Robert. The book can get boring at certain parts but that is of no fault to Paul. He has done his job with the source material that he had.
The novel starts with Robert Langford, Harvard’s symbologist, who is summoned to the U.S. Capitol Building to deliver an evening lecture. Things don’t go as planned, however, as a disturbing object with weird symbols is discovered there. He recognizes that symbol instantly as an ancient invitation to guide its recipient into a world lost to modern humans. It is an invitation to visit a world that is filled with esoteric wisdom.
Things take an unfortunate turn as Robert’s mentor – Peter Solomon is viciously kidnapped. Now, he realizes that his only hope of saving Peter’s life is to accept this invitation. Thus, he will find himself thrown into a world full of Masonic secrets and never-before-discovered locations.
This incident is leading Langford to one conceivable truth. He must race through a metaphorical labyrinth filled with codes, symbols, and secrets all to face his toughest villain yet. His journey will lead him to an unthinkable finale, something that we have come to accept from the brilliant Dan Brown.
