The Secret Place

Many writers of the era have written stories about madmen killing teenage girls without any reason or for personal satisfaction. No one ever tried to write the opposite because the girls are considered weak and fragile thus they cannot kill or harm the male members of the society. Tana French shifts the story the other way round and portrays the teenage girls as the killers in this novel. It is a boy that gets killed near a place that is full of girls’ i.e a boarding school for girls. No evidence is found because the proper investigation does not take place in this regard. Stephen Moran was looking for a big case that could boost his career and then he met the girl who claims that she knows about the one who has murdered the boy. With the help of a senior detective named Antoinette Conway, the investigation is launched by Stephen Moran. Watching everything carefully the two detectives come to know about an underworld of teenage girls.

The lead also makes them realize that several other murders of young boys are linked to this band of girls. Stephen Hogan narrates the male voice here and Lara Hutchinson narrates the female characters present in the novel. Both narrators take the story further in a well-balanced shape. Listening about devilish girls is a unique thing for many of the listeners of mystery tales. Brace up after this for The Searcher and In the Woods, because your mind will feel hungry for more after the end of this book. Secrets, mysteries, and thrill the novel has it all in abundance and it goes on till the end.
