The Third Reich at War

The Third Reich at War is a book on the history of America. It is written by Richard J. Evans. He is a British historian with a core interest in the European history of the 19th and 20th centuries. His work mainly revolves around the history of Germany but has covered other regions as well. He has written 18 history books so far. Apart from the subject book, he is well known for his The Third Reich in Power. Another brilliant book from the author on the same subject line is The Coming of the Third Reich.

The narration of this book is done by Sean Pratt. His narration was fine with some minor issue. The issues were mostly his odd pauses with which you will learn to live once you start with the narration of this chapter.

The author in this one presents a very broad narrative of the progress of the war with personal testimony from a diverse range of people. The range includes generals to the prominent soldiers to the middle-class housewives and the activists of the Hitler Youth.

You will find fresh insights into the great events of the conflict. The events cover the invasion of Poland to the Stalingrad Battle to the suicide of Adolf Hitler in the bunker. You will find the Nazi extermination of the Jews in Europe at the center of this book. It is set in the context of the genocidal plans of Hitler which were all for the racial restructuring of Europe.

The book is good but a bit too long for the subject that it is covering. The author has added some unnecessary details that distracted the audience to some extent. The odd pauses by Sean Pratt in the narration were also not welcomed by the audience.
