Murder in an English Village

Whenever Jessica Ellicott writes about female characters we find her writings bold and they have a sense of adventure for the fans. Beryl Helliwell is an adventuress who has not rested for a while since the day she became an adult. She does not like conventional things and likes to experiment in life. With the passion of that kind in the early 1920s, she was not much acceptable in society. Still, the girl marches on, and when she finally decides to have some rest away from the hustle and bustle of life. It was more of a time out from her side and she went to the English countryside for a long vacation. In those days the people living in the countryside were facing severe financial problems after World War. One of those in financial crises was Edwina Davenport who was going down in budget with every passing day.

She advertised for paying guests and that gives Beryl a chance to enter Edwina’s life. Both of them were class fellows in school but it was a very long time ago. Together the two adjust well and decide to establish an agency that can help both of their purposes easily. Like Murder Comes to Call and Murder Cuts the Mustard this story is of a murder which these two new agents solve. In this way, they also get a chance to know their village in detail. Barbara Rosenblat narrates these two enthusiastic women who form a nice team against crime. This crime-solving not only gives them fame but also helps them to manage the budget properly.
