THE MAGICIAN KING

Mark Bramhall’s narration starts the second part with the same kind of emotional feeling about the world of magic. The land of Fillory existed in Quentin’s mind only at the beginning and then he found out that it really existed and he was linked to it, in more than one way. Lev Grossman takes the story further in a neat fashion and there are no weak links that could distract the attention of the audience.

Quentin and his friends came to the dark world of Fillory in the first book and they initially thought that they had made a mistake because the world was much darker than their expectations. Slowly they learnt the secrets of the world and now they have become the kings and queens of this world which has made their life quite pleasurable. They think that they command everything which exists in Fillory but they are actually wrong. There are hidden things which are not known to them and they are unaware that something or someone has been planning against them.

Julia and Quentin decide to take a romantic tour of their domain and for this purpose they hire a magical ship. The journey starts quite romantically but slowly they fall into a trap. Quentin finds himself back at his parent’s house which is no less than a nightmare for him. The two main characters find themselves in a mess and the only thing which can save them is dark magic. This is a book which is between The Magicians and The Magician’s Land so it establishes a contact between these two books. Without listening to this one, a person cannot understand the other two quite correctly.
