Crooked River

The author, Douglas Preston had a successful career working as an author and a journalist simultaneously. Only a person of his caliber could do that. For the novel Crooked River, Lincoln Child also assisted Douglas in the writing. The book is a mystery thriller that will mesmerize you with some really well-though police procedural sequences.

The narration of Crooked River is done in the powerful voice of Jefferson Mays. Critics really appreciated his performance and audience also had good things to say. A couple of other novels that you can think about, which are written by Douglas Preston are Old Bones and The Ice Limit. The Old Bones is also a mystery thriller whereas the latter one is a fictional novel. Both flavors from the author are superb.

The Crooked River chapter will definitely remind you of the Pendergast old-school novels if you were a fan of such type. The storyline in this book follows Aloysius Pendergast, an FBI agent once again. He reluctantly accepts an offer to investigate a horrific crime scene, which turns out to be a very dangerous investigation.

The story and the action moves at a quite rapid pace throughout. It started from a peaceful beach resort in Asia and then moves directly to Mexico and further. Everything changed, when a new impasse catches Pendergast and all those who were trying to help him in any possible way in the investigation.

You will be mesmerized with the amazing characters, where you will find some veterans and a few other new ones as well. It is masterfully written and immensely addictive story of an over the top adventure. However, the ending could have been a little better.
