Jonathan Yen’s voice completes the trilogy by Vasily Mahanenko and gives us the hint that there is more to come in this epic saga that really shakes the science fiction world. Though the fantasy of this type is not an entirely new idea but usually fantasies have action. This one has action in plenty but then there is physical torment as well that the prisoners face during their labor hours. Thus for the Shaman the world is not that much fascinating because the work never ends for them all they dream of is entering the real world once again.
Mahan now one of the Shamans has faced the whole thing i.e mining for hours without getting a break. We can clearly notice an emerging personality in Mahan in The Kartoss Gambit where after every betrayal and toil he becomes something else that is far from real. He could have taken the easy way out years ago, that was to stop thing of emerging high in the game and spend the days of his punishment with a low profile.
But again there are people who cannot control their inner desires and even the circumstances fail to crush their true being. Mahan finally becomes the leader of clan and not only this he is in possession of something much precious now, the secrets of the Dark Forest. The secrets of the Dark Forest are something that makes almost everyone in the virtual world his rival and he becomes an active participant instead of a mere miner.
Vasily has painted this single dominant character with quite mastery as the zeal and determination can be scene right from the start and we can think that he is going to change everything.
